We at UCAN believe that RESPONSIBILITY, is responding to any situation that is presented to us in a positive manner and to the extent in which an individual is able to respond.
We want to help the guests of the mission recognize that life requires RESPONSIBILITY. Everyone has daily situations or problems that require their ABILITY to RESPOND and resolve those problems. Daily issues as small as waking up on time, proper personal hygiene, making appointments, weekly chores… all require a level of response + ability. A much more significant issue in regards to responsibility that we try and help our guests to recognize, is that where they are at any given point in their life directly correlates with their willingness to take responsibility for themselves. Because in life, both the good and the bad relationships, decisions, and circumstances that we develop, make, or get ourselves into inevitably dictate our destination. Every situation that life has to offer affords us the opportunity to develop and grow in our level of responsibility. God desires that we grow to the point of responding well in any given situation, “…count it all joy brothers and sisters, when you meet trials of various kinds…”
